There are plenty of cheap tenders on the market, which makes it difficult to compare one boat against another - without physically seeing and in reality, using a boat over a period of time. You cannot and should not try to compare online simply based on price!

Takacat's have been on the market for over 10 years now - they are sold all around the world - and have evolved to become a much loved, tough, capable and great value boat that performs and survives very well indeed in the hot humid conditions in Hong Kong and elsewhere.

At Monster Marine, we only sell products that we truly like - we are simply not interested in cheap tat!!! The Takacat Lite is the perfect boat for people who like to swim, snorkel or dive where the open-bow design makes boarding from the water easier than all other boats.

The hulls are constructed with a single seam, rather than the double seams on standard inflatables. Less seam-work minimizes the likelihood of damage at the weakest spots of the boat i.e. where the PVC or Hypalon is joined together.

Takacat offers the option of either chemically bonded seams or glued. A glued seam is more pliable for when the boat is folded, but in a tropical climate welded seams generally last longer. Irrespective, when noit in use your boat should be well covered/protected from the sun. 

Standard Tubes: Tough 0.9mm, 1000 denier Korean PVC, Glued seams, inflate to 3 psi. Air deck floor: 100mm thick, 0.8mm walls, intertwined polyester fibre, 1000 denier Korean. NEW 1mm PVC anti-skid protective layer (fabric to fabric bonding) on top of the high pressure air deck floor for ultimate durability, inflate to 10psi.

Hypalon is an upgrade option made to order with an approximate 2-3 month lead time. The cost is roughly double that of PVC so from a price point of view, PVC is hard to beat. If you use your boat a few months of the year and/or you don’t leave it fully exposed to the elements 24/7, you can expect a lifespan of between 5 - 10 years from PVC. Hypalon will provide greater longevity as it offers the best UV and abrasion resistance, colour stability and air-tightness in addition to great suppleness and high adhesion values, but at a price.

Irrespective of whether you choose PVC or Hypalon, should it eventually be necessary to replace the tubes, the process is easy and cost-effective, unlike conventional ribs or inflatable boats. This is because the fully removable high pressure air deck and tubes are not permanently attached to a hull or transom. All you need do is order a new set of tubes and you basically have a new boat! Easy!

The prices quoted EXCLUDE transportation/delivery from the Factory to Hong Kong. Currently, shipping direct to customers from the Factory costs HK$2,000 added to the cost of the boat (for a standard location - outlying islands and comercial premises may cost more). Monster Marine has no control over shipping costs, nor bears any responsibility for transportation issues including the ETA. If the factory has available stock a boat can typically be delivered within two weeks but orderts are not conditional upon this.
